About us

Founded in 1973, the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL is among the world’s leading institutes in the field of organic agriculture. It has locations in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, France and Belgium. FiBL’s strengths lie in its interdisciplinary and practice-oriented research, its partnership approach to develop innovations jointly with farmers, the food industry and other research partners, solution-oriented development projects and rapid knowledge transfer from research into practice.

The research on Citrus Greening (HLB) is coordinated by FiBL Switzerland in the Department of International Cooperation. FiBL Switzerland with more than 200 staff members and different research departments is covering all relevant fields of organic agriculture: soil management and plant production, species-appropriate animal husbandry and holistic animal health, organic food processing and organic market development. FiBL’s Department of International Cooperation is involved in both research and development projects aiming to foster organic production practice in tropical and low-income countries worldwide. FiBL’s Department of Extension, Training and Communication is specialised in putting knowledge into practice, producing a wide range of technical guides and practice-related publications that are made available for free through the FiBL Shop. Furthermore, FiBL maintains its own YouTube channel, where it provides numerous videos on the issues of organic farming.

As an independent research institute, FiBL is eager to develop with both private and public entities joint projects of mutual interest. Based on specific requests, FiBL also engages in consultancy work.
